I recently attended my first college scholarship night.

The students and parents sat in the audience as 30 separate presenters told their scholarship story and called up the chosen student to receive their award.

Some were quite emotional as they honored the loss of a loved one, others focused on the qualities of the recipient and how the scholarship works to encourage those qualities.

In every case, the purpose of the scholarship was to pass forward a value and to selflessly give without expecting anything in return. It was a very nice night and I am not sure who benefited more, the students or the donors.
